• OCT nerve

    • OCT macula (specifically ganglion cell analysis) 

    • Pachymetry 

    • 24-2 Visual Field (10-2 for severe cases) 

    • ERG (can be helpful to diagnose) 

    • Description:

      • Sudden rise in intraocular pressure (IOP) due to blockage of the trabecular meshwork by the iris.

      • Symptoms include severe eye pain, blurred vision, halos around lights, headache, nausea, and a mid-dilated pupil.

    • Treatment:

      • Immediate IOP-lowering agents:

        • ral acetazolamide

        • Topical beta-blockers

        • Alpha-agonists

        • Pilocarpine

      • Perform laser peripheral iridotomy once IOP is reduced.

    • Emergency?: Yes, this is a sight-threatening emergency.

    • Differential Diagnoses:

      • Uveitis

      • Conjunctivitis

      • Corneal abrasion

      • Scleritis
